The foundations for this sophisticated technology are housed in a seperate box containing the audio quality PSU's, silent air pump & compressor, condenser and regulators. All TechDAS Turntables use an Air Bearing system. In late 2013 he completed just that with the release of Air Force One. 2018 looks to be another very exciting landmark year for TechDAS.Īmongst the second to none build quality, outstanding technical and aesthetic design and stellar ergonomic usability are TechDAS's unique core underpinning technologies. of creating simply the best reasonably sized turntable in the world. After the closure of turntable production at Micro Seiki, Nishikawa-san, still involved with analogue audio, bided time until the technologies for better implementing features like the innovative air bearing, and vacuum hold down had matured to the point he was happy to accept the challenge put to him by TechDAS parent company Stella Inc. TechDAS designer Hideaki Nisikawa-san was a product designer and technical manager at none other than the famed Micro-Seiki of Japan who were responsible for manufacturing amazing quality and state of the turntables from the mid 70's up until their last unit shipped in 2001. With an almost cult like following many Micro-Seiki models are still highly regarded in the audio world today. The collectable flagship models still fetching very high prices when seen (rarely) on the used market. Their first class build, performance and innovative features does also have a strong heritage proceeding it.

This device is guaranteed for life (or at least the life of EarthQuaker Devices).Whilst now a well established company in its own right following its launch of the TechDAS Air Force One in 2013, taking the high end audio world by storm, TechDAS cemented themselves at the forefront of turntable technology, design and manufacturing. This device is true bypass and uses electronic relay based switching.

Switching-type power supplies, daisy chains and non-pedal specific power supplies do not filter dirty power as well and let through unwanted noise. Pedals will make extra noise if there is ripple or unclean power. We always recommend pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies. The Ghost Echo should be powered by a standard 9-volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. This will start to self-oscillate around 3 O’clock, the pitch of the oscillations can be changed by turning the Attack control.ĭepth: Mixes in the wet signal with the dry, unity is around noon and everything after is boosted. When the Dwell is set to self-oscillate, this will change the pitch of the oscillations.ĭwell: Adjusts the length of the decay. The Ghost Echo is true bypass and built one at a time by a team of friendly ghosts in the never-ending hall of funhouse mirrors that is Akron, Ohio, USA.Īttack: Adjusts the length of the pre-delay, from 30ms at minimum to about 150ms at maximum. The “Depth” sets the intensity of the reverb, which you probably know as the wet/dry mix, but we like to think of it more as how scary the overall effect is. At the maximum setting it will descend into an infinite loop of self-oscillation. The “Dwell” control sets the length and thickness of the decay, which is to say that it controls how long the disembodied spirits of notes no longer with us float through the ether.

Legato playing will reveal a massive ambient “depth” that fattens up the sound – and look out it’s right behind you! When playing staccato, you’ll hear the tortured trails of the reverb, resulting in more of a slapback, or echo sound. This creepy analog/digital spring reverb emulation machine boasts a terrifying 30ms – 150ms of pre-delay, controllable via the “Attack” knob, for everything from a quick rockabilly slapback, to viscous pools of ectoplasmic reverberations. You hear that EVP, bud? It’s the all new, extra spook-tacular, Ghost Echo calling out from beyond the void! The Ghost Echo is our spooky take on the haunted* amp-top spring reverberation units of yesteryear. EarthQuaker Devices have been huge fans of the spirit of subculture that Brain Dead celebrates through its graphics-led approach to clothing, gear and accessories, and we were honored to offer up the Ghost Echo as the latest canvas for their mind altering creative vision. EarthQuaker Devices is thrilled to be working with international creative studio Brain Dead on a Ghost Echo collaboration.
